Managing environmental compliance can often feel overwhelming—tracking overdue tasks, notices of violation, deviations, and incidents all at once is no small task.
But what if you could have ongoing visibility into these aspects? Enter the new Compliance Overview dashboard in SAP Analytics Cloud—a game-changer for your EHS team looking to get better transparency into compliance performance and focus on what matters most.
What’s on the Dashboard?

Key Metrics at a Glance
- Tasks: A breakdown of the compliance tasks by priority and status.
- Deviations: Number of recorded compliance deviations.
- Notices of Violation: Count of issued notices, paired with total penalty amounts.
- Environmental Incidents: A snapshot of incidents categorized by type (e.g. air, water, etc.).

Tasks Overview
Compliance tasks are reactive or proactive action steps, which help you minimize your environmental impact or prevent environmental incidents and deviations.
The Tasks Overview graph displays these tasks filtered by priority (e.g. Very High, Medium, Low) and status (e.g. Scheduled, Overdue, Completed), providing a clear view of task progress year-to-date (YTD). While this is the default setup, the dashboard’s flexibility allows you to adjust the graph types and display information based on your preference.
Deviations
A deviation refers to a departure from approved procedures, standards, permits or regulations, i.e. it’s used to handle cases of non-conformance to specific environmental requirements.
The Deviations graph provides a YTD breakdown similar to the Tasks Overview, categorizing the deviations by origin (e.g. Permit, Policy, etc.) and type (Reportable or Nonreportable) offering customizable visualizations that help track patterns and adjust focus areas. With this flexibility, you can tailor the data display to identify trends and prioritize corrective actions.
Notices of Violation
A notice of violation is a formal warning from regulatory authorities indicating a breach of an environmental regulation.
In this graph, you’ll see both the total penalty amounts and the number of violations recorded. Using the dropdown field, you can adjust what’s displayed on the graph, offering a dynamic view of the data that’s most relevant to your compliance goals.
Environmental Incidents
An environmental incident is any unplanned event that harms the environment, such as hazardous spills, pollutant emissions, or waste discharges affecting air, water, soil, etc.
The Environmental Incidents section categorizes these events by release type, such as air, ground, water, or your custom release. You can use filters to view specific types or display all categories for a broader view. This flexibility helps pinpoint areas requiring immediate attention or analyze trends across multiple types of incidents.

Tracking Trends
The Compliance Overview dashboard also provides insights to trend analysis:
Incidents Over Time
This trend graph displays the number of incidents by type (e.g., deviations, violations, etc.) over time, allowing you to identify recurring patterns, pinpoint high-risk periods, and address them proactively.
Overdue Tasks Trend
This graph shows the monthly trend of overdue tasks for the past six months of the current calendar year. It helps you spot bottlenecks and assess your team's capacity to handle compliance tasks within deadlines.
