This document should give you an overview over compositions and how they are used.
It refers to the SAP EHS Standard Data Model and SAP EH&S Regulatory Content terms.
I will use the following Example data:
P is made of REAL_SUBs: 80% A and 20% B.
A is made of PURE_SUBs: 50% A1 and 50% C.
B is made of PURE_SUBs: 50% B1 and 50% C
The text in double quotes (") is the help text of the properties.
I will add other compositions as requested.
These are the two most important compositions from a data model / rules perspective.
These two compositions are normally not printed on a SDS.
"List of all the known ingredients of a product, and their quantities.
Ingredients are substances that are actually contained in the product
after the production process has been completed and that can be detected
by analysis.
The exact composition based on products (ECP) can also include products
(in the sense of mixtures or preparations) as ingredients, which, in
turn, consist of other substances. In contrast, the exact composition
based on compounds (ECC) can only contain chemical compounds as
ingredients."
For the Example above the 'Exact Composition Based on Products' is:
80 % A
20 % B
"List of all the known ingredients of a product, and their quantities.
Ingredients are substances that are actually contained in the product
after the production process has been completed and that can be detected
by analysis."
For the example above the 'Standard Composition' is:
50 % C
40 % A1
10 % B1
" List all ingredients in case the composition is based on a regulatory definition and differs from the standard composition.
An example might be a composition according to the EU REACH directive 1907/2006/EC."
From the SAP glossary:
An optional composition that lists only the substances that are relevant for the REACH regulations. For example, an impurity may be part of the standard composition, but not relevant for the REACH regulations since it is below a certain concentration threshold. The legal composition must be maintained manually. If the legal composition is maintained, it overrides the standard composition.
