As we can see that more and more the Product Compliance tool/software is used and questions are coming up, may be it is needed to start a new Blog to help those who start with Product Compliance.
As an introduction read here: https://community.sap.com/t5/product-lifecycle-management-blogs-by-members/new-sap-ehs-management-fo...
YOU WILL FIND A HUGE NUMBER OF VERY IMPORTANT BLOGS PREPARED BY SAP HERE DISCUSSING OPTIONS IN THE PRODUCT COMPLIANCE. Not all of them I will link here (I assume: more blogs to be published by SAP will come).
I would like to present some dicussions running and the topics which are discussed there in reference to Online Help if applicable. This might help to understand the new terms which are used in Product Compliance.
I use the term "CCI" here. The correct term according to SAP help is "Compliance View" (CCI = Chemical Compliance Information).
I will not repeat here (or try to avoid) the detailed information you will find in Online Help. But I will give only links to some important chapters.
To read the "foundation" part (https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/35751be3d6ee423197492574e016a512/bcdbf1048a004300ae1...) is a MUST before you start Product Compliance.
The information there are the core piece of the new concept as used by SAP. BUT the details will come in different chapters (e.g. the "data model concept" (what is a released data?, like "versioning" etc.)
In this Q&A Post some core concepts of the new solution are discussed.
Core concept 1:
The "CCI" (Chemical Compliance Information: Looking on Online Help (https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/35751be3d6ee423197492574e016a512/bb3d236c2f234f799a7...) the correct term is "Compliance View"
You will always generate a CCI to maintain the data. The term "packed" and "unpacked" are here (at the starting) not really relevant.
Core concept 2:
In Product Compliance you handle the materials as "packed" or "unpacked"
This "Packed Part" you should read first.
IMPORTANT TO READ IS THIS CHATER COMPLETY TO UNDERSTAND SOME BASIC CONCEPTS AS USED: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/35751be3d6ee423197492574e016a512/d65e61220ad3455da8d...
Especially the "Substance" part can only be understood if read on the top the information as available in the Learning Hub (the concept of a "listed sustance" and "company substance").
Core Concept 3: the "material relevance"
For this please read: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/35751be3d6ee423197492574e016a512/737a07a98c864d0cad4...
AND DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE TO CHECK THE RELEVANCE !!!
Here discussion is running regarding new screens in SAP processes (e.g. sales process, delivery process etc.)
It is important to understand the new information (if Product Compliance is used) in these screens.
In this case: a sales order is discussed and some subscreen in the User Dialog presenting data from Product Compliance.
This is discussing the current available option in Product Compliance in context of Substance Volume Tracking
here the new options coming with Product Compliance are discussed; the "content piece".
Check here for details:
More or less the same as above. So as well: If you use Product Compliance then as well in the purchase order process you will find new screens. Here you can see how the purchase process is correlated to the Product Compliance process
E.G. check may be: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/35751be3d6ee423197492574e016a512/3ed513757551420cbb0...
Here as well discussion is running how Product Compliance is integrated to the purchase process.
https://community.sap.com/t5/sap-for-chemicals-discussions/sap-s-4hana-for-product-compliance-how-to... is once again discussion partly the "Substance Volume Tracking" process.
YOU SHOULD READ THIS Q&A !! The new Product Compliance has a clever concept to handle "released" data and data in a "temporary stage". But exactly this concept is "hard to understand" but a "must to be understood". I am sorry. PLEASE CHECK ONLINE HELP FOR DETAILS OR CHECK LEARNING HUB FOR MORE DETAILS.
The learning hub is a good location to get good documentation !
This is a Blog Post AND IT IS REALLY GREAT
Again this Q&A discusses the "material concept", The "Compliance View Concept", The "Relevance concept" of a material
READ THIS BLOG https://community.sap.com/t5/product-lifecycle-management-blogs-by-sap/marketability-assessment-of-c...
Once again the same: Material concept is discussed, the compliance view etc. PLEASE READ.
This is a very good (must to read) Blog Post: https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-sap/support-for-additional-exemptions-and-special-p...
Once again: this Q&A is discussing the "material part" (including material relevance) and the CCI concept
READ THIS VERY GOOD BLOG: https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-sap/why-safety-data-sheets-and-what-s-new/ba-p/1360...
Some special aspects are dicussed here https://community.sap.com/t5/enterprise-resource-planning-q-a/hazardous-substance-register-list-gefa...
As well here the concept of "material" and the link to the CCI is discussed; on top: How material should / can be handled in Product Compliance if there are many assigned "roles" (sold, purchased, produced etc.).
Interesting topic of data handling as such. So if there is a CCI and a link to a material, can this link be changed i yes under which condition.
Blog. Must to read: https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-sap/latest-content-updates-for-product-compliance-a...
Blog. MUST TO READ. VERY GOOD INSIGHT ! https://community.sap.com/t5/sap-for-chemicals-blogs/integrated-product-compliance-and-what-comes-ne...
Blog. MUST TO READ. VERY GOOD EXPLAINED https://community.sap.com/t5/enterprise-resource-planning-blogs-by-sap/what-s-the-difference-between...
This Q&A is discussing the purchase process and what data should be maintained under which condition (topic of "role". WHO IS THE SUPPLIER?
This Q&A topic is a MUST TO READ discussing "listed substances" / "company substances" and the correlation of each.
Example 24
Again a topic of data handling (material / CCI correlation)
The above list of examples is clearly not complete and not intended to be complete.
MOST IMPORTANT IS: If you are planning to use Product Compliance now or in the future
These are the steps you should do:
Here a small list of SAP blogs which provide good information regarding the current functionality etc.
