Dear fans of collaboration,
For over twenty-four months, the "SAP Help Portal" team, with their Open Documentation Initiative, has been leading the Formula 1 of developer documentation feedback. Bolstered by the robust support from the "Open Source" pit crew and a well-oiled GitHub collaboration process, it remains the Ferrari of feedback collection, driving continuous improvements on the documentation track. But does every spectator want to be in the Ferrari's driving seat? This season, we're putting that question to the test by introducing a rival racer: The comments feature on SAP Help Portal .
In other words... - results from a survey, but also the amount of feedback we received suggest that GitHub may not be the tool of choice to provide feedback for all roles of SAP BTP. For developers who use GitHub anyway it's a piece of cake to use it for feedback as well, sure, but administrators and especially business users might not be familiar with GitHub at all and hesitant to create an account just for that one purpose.
For some guides you may have already noticed the following feedback options:
Menus for on SAP Help Portal | Usage | Prerequisite |
Feedback > Create issue Feedback > Edit page | Provide feedback through GitHub (guidelines) | You have a personal GitHub account |
Feedback > Comments | Provide feedback on SAP Help Portal | You have a user on SAP Help Portal |
This year, we'd like to compare the two approaches. And it's all about: measure, measure, measure. The guides below offer both options on SAP Help Portal. The best way to 'vote' for one option is to provide feedback using your most prefered feedback channel.
We're always happy to receive your feedback, no matter through which channel. So it's really up to you if you prefer comments or GitHub. If you have a preference, I'd be interested to understand better why you prefer one or the other. Anyway, thank you for taking part in this race.
Cheers,
Jens
