Dear All,

We have a group of users who must remain active on the platform, but must not receive any learning assignments.

This list of users changes from time to time.

Would it be possible to create a user group and use it as an exclusion rule in all Assignments Profiles? This way, when the list of users changed, we would not need to enter each Assignments Profile to adjust manually, only the group in question.

Kind Regards

Carolina Faria

Similar to other answers, we have a user field called Exemption. All of our Assignment Profiles have a rule of Exemption = Empty. Therefore we just have to add the exemption to the user as and when needed and they get added or excluded from the APs.

@carolinafaria, similar to what marimcguir said, there is no assignment profile rule attribute available for User Group, so there is no way to tell a profile that "User Group does not match". However, I just wanted to expand on the idea of using a user custom field in LMS before your EC implementation.

If you created a User custom field in LMS as marimcguir described (I agree that a Referenced field would be most advisable), then a Learning Admin with security permission to the Import Data function could use the User template to populate the custom field for the designated users as a bulk import. The navigation path to the tool is Learning Admin > System Admin > System Management Tools > Import Data > Entity Type = User. Similarly, a Learning Admin with the security workflow for Edit User (and appropriate security domain restrictions) could manually populate the custom field value for individual users when needed.

My point is that this process is POSSIBLE. Whether or not it is worth the maintenance hassle is a separate conversation.

Hi!

Typically, you are using an assignment profile to create your user groups. And I don't see a mechanism (at least not in my system) to include or exclude a user group within the assignment profile rules.

An idea though - could you create a user custom field for this? For example, if the custom field was named, Training Exemption (Yes, No, Blank or whatever you want to enter here, though I recommend a referenced field) - then you would be able to capture whether or not that user fit the criteria - and use it as an inclusion/exclusion in Assignment Profiles.

Hello marimcguir, Thank you for your response! The company will implement EC in 2025. Only then will it be possible to insert the custom field and use it as an exclusion rule in Assignments Profiles. In the meantime, I also don't see any other solution than to maintain a list of users separately from the system and include it as a removal criteria in each AP. Kind Regards Carolina Faria

@carolinafaria Hi! We have several user custom fields in our instance, and we also do not have EC. So, there are options there, even without EC.
