We are running User trainings in our Test Environment but we need lot of time in creating user profiles in Test environment from Production.

We need to manually create positions & copy all the portlet information from production to Test. This takes up lot of time.

What are best practices to copy user data from Production to Test environment?

Hi Chetan,

Creating a transport request in the production system containing the necessary user-related data and then importing it into the test system is one of the best practices for copying user data from the Production to the Test environment.

Thanks Nitish. Just so that I understand correctly, the transport request is similar to instance copydown request? or is it something different?

Yes, They serve different purposes and are part of different processes in SAP

  • Transport request is primarily used for transporting customizations, configurations, and developments between SAP systems in a landscape (e.g., development, quality, and production).
  • Instance copy-down request is used for copying entire instances or clients within the same system or between systems, including both data and configurations. Mostly helpful in cases where you need to refresh a test system with the data from a production system or create a new system with a similar setup.

Thanks
