Ways to incorporate learning requirement type feature to LMS programs

I am looking to build a learning pathway that provides learners with guidance on a specific topic, while also allowing flexibility on what courses they complete among a list. I am hoping to find a way to mesh the concept of Programs and Learning Requirements within the curricula realm.

I want to utilize a program as opposed to a curricula so that the full pathway appears on the Learning Assignments tile as ONE clear thing rather than a bunch of individual items that the learner may not realize are all part of the pathway. The problem is I also need to allow for the learner to select 5 out of 10 possible trainings to take. Once 5 out of 10 within the program are completed, the program can be marked complete.

Example: I want to create a pathway for product line BEARINGS. Some locations within our organization work with XYZ vendors, while others work with ABC. I want to create ONE pathway for Bearings but give options for the learner to take the 5 vendor courses that are most applicable to them.

Any suggestions on how I can blend these two functions together?

Dear tclark,

Thinking on your requirement, maybe you can try to create a curricula as "curricula requirement" where you place all the optional Items inside, and assign this currcicula to the catalog of the employees which will access the program. After you can generate the Direct Link of this curricula and inside of the program, use the "Link" option to attach the URL that you generate.

You may name this program activity as Items Pools (something like that), so when the learner clicks on it, he/she will be directed to the Curricula items and they can pick the items they want.

I hope this helps!

Thank you.

Definitely an interesting approach! My immediate thought is that the links come with the "Mark Complete" button and that a user may mark the section complete before actually having completed any of the requirements. Also, knowing our user-base, the second tab opening up when they click the link may cause them to not go back to the program. I am definitely going to test this option out though. I appreciate your response!
