Hi,
I have recently started to work in an already-created Workarea with a lot of multimedia content.
I need to upload some existing content in this Workarea, and currently it seems that there is no Master Author having a full mirror copy of this Workarea.
Unfortunately, the storage linked to this Workarea is particularly huge and I’m not able to store it on my laptop.
I have several questions deriving from this situation:
- Is it possible in the Manager to get an overview of the storage occupied by a Workarea ?
- In order to save space, If I only do a synchronization using “Check out folder structure only”, will subsequent clicks on “Synchronize Workarea” will update the structure, or will attempt to download a copy of the content on my laptop?
- I suppose that if I only choose to download some objects, they will go in the “Unsorted” folder?
- If yes, will these objects in terms of ID be references or duplications of the objects sorted in the Workarea?
- My last question is another formulation of the previous one. An object downloaded is showed as “unsorted” when its incomplete structure is downloaded.
In “unsorted”, this object appears as a “managed object”, with the blue cloud icon.
But I suppose that the original object is still in its place in the content structure. If I start to edit the “unsorted” object, does this mean that I am currently editing a copy of the original object, or am I directly editing the object in the content structure?
Kind regards,
If you are short on space, don't download the whole structure. Selectively choose the portions you do want; others will show with a white cloud icon, and you can download these later if you want. Read up on this in the Producer Manual.
If you only download/synchronize specific nodes, always select the individual notes (ctrl+click to not select their children) all the way back up to Root, and then choose to set the Server Root as your Local Root. That will prevent them from appearing in Unsorted.
