Variable Pay - How to change the bonus Bonus Increase for some employees

Hello everyone!

Your advice would be helpful for the following customer's requirement for the Variable Pay:

Employees are not entitled to a bonus increase of more than 25% of their monthly salary. However, there are cases where the increase may exceed this percentage. For example the compensation manager will decide to give to an employee 35% instead of 25%. Have you got any idea how this will be implemented in the Variable Pay?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Olskar

I think there are two things to differentiate here:

  • The target bonus % stored in EC for each employee (usually a % between 5 and 20 for most people but it varies by industries and status - exec or non-exec)
  • The gates or cappings applied to the final amount payout amount calculated by Variable Pay.

I assume you are asking about the second one, for that purpose you can either use Bonus Caps documented here or even a few custom columns at the summary level to do checks of the final payout vs an employee salary*25%. Then you can allow managers to flag on screen people who are exceptions and for whom the cap should be 35% and not 25%.

All the best
