We are using assignments on courses and quizzes to an OU set up. However, when an end user accesses the course from a book page we set up in the Training Library, it does not track the course or quiz. We've noticed that it tracks the completion from the Learners View but not from an internal link to a course from a book page. In addition, it does not track Custom links that we send out to those users to take a course, it does not track the course. It does not track the quiz. When we run the User by Assignment Report it doesn't not reflect that a user has not completed the course. What are we doing wrong?

Hi Linda,
In general, tracking is working so I would get you to check the following:
1. The Workarea Settings must be setup correctly
a. Open Producer and start editing the Resources > Adaptable Resources > Playback Settings object
b. Double click the object to open it
c. Click on the book reader object, open the Tracking (General) section of properties and make sure that the following values are set
d. If you also want to track the completion of Simulation modes, click on the Demo Mode, Practice Mode, and Test Mode objects and make the same changes for any modes that you want to track. If you don't want to track those Simulation modes, make sure that the Tracking Back End value is set to None
e. Quiz objects should always be accessed by the Test Mode so make sure that you track the Test Mode, if you want to track your Quizzes
f. After checking all the Playback Settings, close the save the settings
g. Finish editing the Playback Settings object and make sure that you publish it. The changes will not come into effect until you publish
2. The link that you provide to your users must be to a Book object, not directly to a Book Page object. I've noticed that tracking does not work if you open a Book Page directly, not via a Book object.
Regards
Shane
