Successfactors LMS - Adding custom fields to API's

Hi All,

We would like to add a link to the course completion pdf in the LMS scheduled class.

We have defined a custom field for this on scheduled-offering level. But I wonder if these custom fields can be updated via the LMS api's.
I do not see the custom field when I request the schedule-offering service metadata.

Is this possible at all?
Do we need to do something else to make the custom fields available in the API's?

I'm not sure I understand what it is you're trying to achieve.

To which certificate of completion are you referring?

If you are referring to the "embedded" certificate of completion, it is nested at the item level, not the class level.

If you attempt to link to the course certificate fo completion, then APIs can help. I would suggest you check the available API in the Learning History service metadata here, as I can find the following reference:

This is a link to the certificate of completion report. User can click this link to see their certificate of completion and print it. This user must have permission to print the certificate of completion. Most customers give their users permission to print certificates of completion.

If you are looking at API-posting a value into a class custom field, I am not aware of any possibility in standard that allows this. Only with the Class Connector is it possible.

Adding a field in the API definition would require your company to submit a solution enhancement under the influence.sap.com site for SF Product Management review.

Hi fmoneger,

In our solution attendants sign the attendance sheet via DocuSign. Docusign sends both the signed attendance sheet and certificate of completion back to LMS.

The course attendance we can then update in LMS using the scheduledoffering-service SegmentAttendances API.

For the certificate of completion we do not have a solution sofar. If the API can update the certificatelink it may work. But as far as I can see there is only a user API for this.

Is there a possibility that the Admin user can update this field for all attendants of a scheduled offering?

Your message caught my attention.

Indeed, we would like to digitalize attendance signature in LMS. As we already use Docusign in our company, I try to catch if we can link both systems with API (as there are no standard API between LMS & Docusign at this time).

I would be more than happy to chat with you about your attendance signature workflow, and how you did that.
