Simulations modes in the SAP Companion

Hi all,

I have some questions regarding the display of the simulations in the SAP Companion.

I have read in the SAP Companion Integration Guide (Configuring the Learning Section), that by default the parameter “learningAppProjectMode” has the value “uebung”, which means that all simulations are shown in Practice Mode in the SAP Companion.

In the context of an extended Workarea, using both standard and custom content, that will happen if we switch the parameter ““learningAppProjectMode” to “demo”?

If some simulations have only been provided initially in Practice mode (for instance the SAP standard content), will these simulations be hidden or still visible in the SAP Companion?

Is it possible to choose at simulation level (i.e. not globally), to display specific simulations only in Demo or Practice mode in the SAP Companion, or do all simulations need to be displayed in the same mode?

More generally is it possible to provide a mix of different modes of simulations in the Learning section of the SAP Companion?

Hi Emmanuel,

You are correct that much of the standard content is only provided in the Practice mode.  If you use the learningAppProjectMode parameter to change that to the Demo mode it will be necessary to regenerate the modes for all Simulations that you want to use.  This means fetching standard content and regenerating the modes, which can easily be done through the Workarea > Generate All Content functionality in Producer.

Unfortunately, there is no way to limit the change in mode to a specific subset of content, it relates to all content accessed through the Learning tab in SAP Companion.  The only other option is to create link tiles on the Help Topics area that point to the Demo mode Simulations for those that you want to deploy.

My advice is to stick to Practice mode if you want to use standard content because it will introduce too much maintenance to change to Demo mode, given that Demo mode is not maintained on most of the standard content.

Regards
Shane
