Selectively enable Trainer Bar?

Background/author desire: I have an area moving to SEN from a different tool and way of working. They built content in a book with book pages and desire to turnoff the trainer bar for their playback.

Challenge: Most of our SEN deliveries enable the trainer bar.

Actions I’ve taken: I’ve played with this, looked at the community and Learning Room, but for the moment I miss to find the answer.

Finally the detailed question: I understand this is playback settings, but wonder if there is a way to default the trainer bar “on” and allow selective “off” capability for some books.

Hi Henry,

I don't think you can selectively turn off the trainer bar per book page. However, you could create a configuration per customer and allow the trainer bar to show for some customers and not for others. Not sure if this would help you or not.

In addition to Kate comment, I am not sure what the aim of deactivating the control bar is for certain books. But maybe you want to achieve that users read the whole book and do not skip pages for example.If so, then you can disabling the navigation within book pages.Please follow the instructions in the Producer Guide on Page 216: https://help.sap.com/doc/fee61487e5684d2aa52f5fd2bbe4cd2a/2005/en-US/Producer_Manual_en-US.pdf#page=... I would recommend to work with the page action "On Page loaded" and set then the value to disable book navigation" Maybe that helps you further. Best regards, Michael

They want the training to work as it is now, mostly like an MP4, with the added item of launching a quiz at the end; the quiz is in another tool.

I have pushed to keep the bar, but they continue to raise the question.

They want the users to go step by step, see and listen to each page fully. A much more controlled presentation and consumption than a job aid/performance aid.

Hi Wallace,

You have a couple of options:

1. Turning off the Trainer bar for the entire course
- In Producer, click on the Book object of the relevant course
- Scroll down in the Book Properties to locate the Book Reader section of Properties
- Turn off the Navigation Controls and the Table of Content Control

2. Disable Navigation on individual pages
- Open the relevant page in Producer
- Ensure that you have the Page object selected and scroll down to the Actions Properties
- Turn on the On Page Loaded action and add an entry
- Select the Page object as the reference object and select the Disable Book Navigation action
