Search with condition in SAP Embedded Analytics report

Dear SAP Experts and Community,

We have some reports that have been developed using SAP Embedded Analytics in SAP Commissions system. Our requirements are quite standard: we need to input search conditions such as From Date, To Date, Branch, and then submit. After that, the system should return data that matches these conditions.

However, the technical team has provided feedback that there are limitations in SAP, including:

1. The system does not support searching with various conditions. It always loads all data from the beginning to the end. Users must use filters on the top bar, similar to Excel, to limit the data after it's loaded onto the screen.

2. The system does not support filtering by From Date to To Date. Instead, the solution is for users to input the number of months for the data they want to retrieve. For example, if the current month is September 2023:

   • If we input "Data month = 0," then the system will filter data for the current month (September).

   • If we input "Data month = 1," then the system will filter data for the previous month (August).

These behaviors seem unusual. Could you please help verify if this is accurate?

I'd like to provide additional information. This is the homepage portal that appears after I log in. Clicking on "Embedded Analytics" takes me to the report screen

Upon selecting a report in the Story folder, the report loads all the data from the database (e.g., from 2000 to 2023), which often causes the report to become unresponsive or hang.

The "Look Back" filter field is where the user needs to input a value. A value of 0 corresponds to the current month.

Our goal is to lock the columns in the report and retrieve a subset of data based on the specified search conditions.

Hi...

You need to have another conversation with your technical team :-). I assume that you have created the embedded reports as Custom Analytical Queries. In the query definition you can decide what is 'loaded' into the displayed columns and rows and leave the other dimensions and measures as 'free' for the user to drag and drop. Also, if the underlying CDS view has a date field then you can create parameters in the query that allow for selection beyond the Data Month that you have described.

You can also add parameters to the underlying CDS view that will prompt the user for data selection restrictions.

So you should be able to get what you need.

Kris, I do not believe the options you are referencing are available in "Embedded Analytics for SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management" which this question appears to be about.
