SAP S4 HANA Vs EC Payroll

Hello Experts

Currently we are using On Premise SAP ECC HCM, Time Mgt, Payroll  FICO, MM, SD, PP etc and planning to move to S4 HANA. We are also using SuccessFactors Employee central and other Talent modules (Time and payroll are still in On premise SAP ECC).

I want to know what is the best approach. Should we go for EC Payroll or should we go for S4 HANA payroll. Is there are pros/cons Matrix available for the same

The "best" approach depends on the various conditions. The comment that I am giving based on my own experiences. At the end, I strongly believe that you should be considering this with your project team, SAP representatives, and/or SAP service provider.

Some items to think about regarding your infrastructure:

1. Are you planning on separating your HR system from the rest?
2. Do you have any business requirements for non-HR modules, which would require HR specific data/calculations etc.?
3. Do you have any resources for working on integrations?

ECP is a cloud solution, which has a dynamic integration with SuccessFactors, and the integration effort between these two systems are kind of minimal compared to the integration between on-prem and SuccessFactors. At the end, the approaches are similar; but some technical details are different, and of course these differences reflects to the efforts you will be spending.

There is no right or wrong answer at this point. Pros and cons change depending on the answers for the questions above; and of course on the recourses you can allocate. If you are eventually going to separate your HR system, then having a standalone ECP environment would be safer, and your integration effort for HR module will be less (for the PTP part where you integrate ECP and SF). However, you would also need to consider integrating the ECP environment with your ERP system as well depending on which HR data is required for other modules. On the other hand, if you won't separate your environments and want to continue with on-prem, in this case HR module specific integration would require a lot more integration effort; however the integration with the other modules in this case would not be a problem.
