Hello,
We've created different workflows but master author/standard author don't have permission to select the workflow when creating a new project in the Manager.
Standard author/master author are part of the root and we've given for all steps permission to the root.
Can you advise why the don't succeed in creating a new project with an existing workflow?
Thx a lot for the feedback, KR, Maggy

Hello Dirk,
On your advice we succeeded to setup via Producer. Here the Standard author can add the workflow. So we still need to find out why this is not working via Manager.
Feedback on your questions:
1) is it necessary to start the workflow with 'Start'? We now setup with 'Assigned' and flagged this as Initial
2) the error message when selecting the workflow via Manager is as follows:

Even via Tasks and selecting the workflow is not possible....

They need to have the Workflow: View permission. Also make sure the Workflow Process is Active.
I'm not sure what you mean by "we've given for all steps permission to the root" though. Sounds worrying. I don't recommend having any permissions (except maybe apart from Content: Display) assigned to Root - everything should be handled through Roles.
How are they creating projects? In Manager? I'd recommend in Producer - just make sure they have synchronized, and that the Project is Saved to Server - you cannot assign Workflow to local-only objects. There's a Refresh button next to the Assign Workflow field (in Producer). Click that to get the latest Workflow Process definitions from the Server.

Hello Dirk,
View permission= OK in their standard/master author role
Workflow processes= Active
Permissions setup (see below)

We create the project in the Manager in the group folder of the SME by
Then we select the workflow and click OK (at this point we get the error that this action is not possible)
Then we got to TASKS and assign the project
Then we Finish editing the project, the assigned person receives an email that a recording needs to be done in Instant Producer

So you have permissions of Root assigned to the transition? This means that absolutely anyone in your entire instance can use it. That's what you want? If so, OK. But if you have it set to Root (which I also see on all Transitions) you don't need any of the other Permissions on there - Root covers everything. My guess is you don't really want Root on them all...
Why is Assigned your initial State, and not Start?
What is the error message you get? You can see the Workflow in the drop-down when you create the project? But when you select it, it says what?
It works OK for me from there, but if it lets you assign a Workflow from the Tasks screen but not from the Create, it can't bee a permission thing? Do you have a default Workflow set for the Workarea?
