SAP Enable NOW - S4HANA

Hello,

We want to connect web assistant with S4HANA. S4HANA is an on-prem system working on desktop, which is not accessable via browser with a URL like SuccessFactors. I found some information about integration between those two but when it comes to showing configuration on S4HANA side, there are only fiori screens. How can we integrate the web assistant to S4HANA launching on desktop, or can we? If not, what are these integration configurations showing in Fiori screens?

Hi everyone,

SAP Companion (formally Web Assistant) does not work with desktop applications, such as SAP GUI. You options are to use SAP Companion for Desktop (formally Desktop Assistant) or the ECC Help menu extension.

For more information about SAP Companion for Desktop, refer to SAP Companion for Desktop installation guide. For more information about the SAP ECC Help menu extension refer to ECC Help menu extension guide.

If you do decide to use SAP Companion for Desktop, please refer to section 2 of Producer authoring requirements.

Shane

Hello again,

When I opened the SAP GUI, in the screen of connections are shown, desktop assistant can recognize the objects and shows the learning contents. I did the scripting, theme, history, tooltip and so on (mentioned in the guide that you wrote first) configurations, now I don't get an error or warning about scripting but even though I can record a guided tour or context help in the menu screen (after logged in a connection), it doesn't show the content when that page is opened however it shows the content of screen that connection list located. What might be reason behind that?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

My guess would be the Page Keys. Look into genericizing them.

Hello,

We solved the problem, we thought we enabled scripting for both sides but we only had enabled it from client side. Everything is fine now. Thank you.

Hi Dilara,

Sorry, I'm not sure what is happening here because you mention that you are using S/4HANA and Fiori but are not using a browser. How do you start the S/4HANA transactions; Fiori is technology that runs in a browser? Are you using SAP GUI?

Hello Shane,

Yes we are launching S/4HANA from SAP GUI, the transactions and processes are done by using SAP GUI.

Kind regards.

Hello Shane,

Our customer won't use fiori, they will launch S4/HANA via SAP GUI so we need to use desktop assistant instead of web assistant since we cannot integrate web assistant to a desktop application I guess. I tried to record a guided tour for desktop assistant in an SAP GUI screen but I got this diagnosis text. What do I need to do solve this? Thank yok in advance.

Kind regards.

Script support is already enabled in our SAP GUI settings by the way.

For the scripting, I think there could be a server side setting. Please check Infocenter or Community to see - I believe there's instructions on it. For ECC, I think it is RZ10 or RZ11, but for security focused, there is another way also.

Thank you Wallace.

By the way, our team achieved to complete required installations for fiori launchpad. We have S4HANA On Prem and have access to fiori launchpad too right now. How can I connect my extended workarea to here and also start editing contents in web assistant fiori launchpad?

Thank you.

Hi Dlilara,

At this point, I want to defer to the experts, as this is an area I am also starting in. We've had SEN active with ECC, now we want to take the step to extend/take SAP Companion on the Fiori/S4 world for at least a demo scenario, with hopes of production use.
I've been looking at the SAP Companion Integration Guide, referenced on the SEN Community (use your "S" userid to access).

Hoping this helps.
