SAP Companion Usage reports

Hi, I am trying to determine the best usage reports for SAP Companion. I have also connected the raw data to Power BI.

There are a few conflicting pieces of data. Note our Companion is set to off automatically, so users have to turn it on.

1. In the SAP Companion Usage report via Manager, it shows Help_Shell-home for 2 items:

  • Context Help Started (for example 100)
  • SAP Companion Started (for example 70)

What I don't understand is why there are more Context Help Start than SAP Companion Starts? Does this mean that, for example 70 user switched on Companion, and then they started some piece of context help 100 times?

2. In the context of the report data which I have now in Power BI, what does the project;help and 'Button' refer to':? It can't be a piece of context help as they are shown as help;tile and help;link

Thanks

David

It's as Shane says: SAP Companion Started is they click the (?) - on the specified screen. Context Help Started will be displayed the Help Topics page. This is displayed by default as soon as they click the (?), but they could click the Guided Tours and then back on Help Topics, which would increase Context Help Started but not SAP Companion Started. Another reason you might see a difference is if they click (?) to open the Carousel on the Help Topics (which will increment both) and then navigate to another app - where the Help Topics will be displayed (incrementing that) but they didn't click on the (?) because the carousel was already displayed, so SAP Companion Started won't increment.

You may also find the Context Help Visits report handy, as that shows the number of times a specific help tile was displayed - and that can be by hover over, clicking a hotspot/tile, or the new Show Bubble as Callout option.

Hi David,

Not sure what you mean by your users have to start SAP Companion, other than perhaps the authentication occurs when they open the Companion carousel.

I think you are correct the the difference in values for the number of times that SAP Companion was opened and the number of times that the Context Help message was opened. You can open SAP Companion once and then open and close the same Context Help bubble as you choose. So, it's possible that the number of times that a Context Help message is opened is greater than the number of times that Companion is opened.

The term Project in Enable Now refers to Simulations so I suspect that this is Simulations being opened through SAP Companion. Not sure what the button option is but I know that you can turn Link Tiles into buttons on the carousel so perhaps it is a Link Tile that has been turned into a button.

Regards
Shane

I think button is clicking on the (?). "Display as button" is for Link Tiles so presumably that would be counted under help:link.
