SAP Companion for Desktop | Simulations appear on the Home Page

Hello,

My question below is for SAP Companion for Desktop (Desktop Assistant)

Question: Is it possible that all of our simulations will appear when the user is in the Home Page? Some of our simulations will only appear when they are in the specific page. However, we find it useless for our new users because they need to go to that page before they can play a simulation. We want that the simulations will be all available even they are in the Home Page. I tried neutralizing the page keys, but it didn't work. Is it possible to have this set up?

Thank you so much for the help.

So that's always the dilemma - if you include the Home screen in your Simulation then it will be deemed 'context-applicable help' when you are on the Home screen. And if every simulation does this, every simulation will be listed. On the contrary, if you only start from the specific app, then it will not display until they are actually IN the app - but if they don't know which app to use, how do they know where to go so they can see it?

I personally prefer the latter approach (especially if you have hundreds - or even thousands - of simulations), and teach users how to search for an app in navigation training. An enhancement is is to put some kind of index on the Home screen, telling the users which apps to use for what, as I explained in this recent tweet:

Hi Dirk & Anton,

Thank you so much for giving me the ideas. I understand the logic and I am planning to test the second approach you mentioned.

I do agree with Dirk. The second approach provides more reliable information.

Example: the fact that I have access to the SAP Fiori Launchpad Home Page or the SAP GUI Easy Access screen doesn't guarantee that I can create a new bank or approve a purchase requisition.

But, of course, you can use the first approach if users in your organization are OK with this.
