Root Group

Hi,

I have created a workarea (B) and based it on another workarea (A). However, now I have three root group folders in workarea (B) and I'm not sure why.... I tried to delete one of these root groups but I was not able to synchronnize objects to (B) from (A) anymore, so I ended up retrieving it from trash...Any Advice ? Thank you!

Ha. I don't know how you have THREE (I'd expect 2) - but what I think you have done is Fetched / Checked Out the Root of (B) in (A), and you wouldn't normally want to do that - you'd want to Check Out selected parts (or potentially all) of its contents, and then put that under your own Root.

But ultimately, Root is just another Group - just one that you have specified as 'the root' for your Workarea. You should be able to delete the (A) Root Group from (B) - you can't completely delete it because you need to be in (A) to do that, but you should be able to effectively remove it from visibility (try 'Delete Locally'). It probably has an orange dot next to it, which means it exists in the base Workarea (unless you have Fetched copies...).

No idea where your third Root came from. You may want to revisit the SAP training on connected/extended Workareas - I think there's info in the Info Center.

Thank you! I think I know now why I have three. When I created workarea (A), I imported objects to it (with their root group) from another workarea (C) and then set workarea (A) as a base for (B). However, now if I go to workarea (C) and delete its root group (or if I delete the whole workarea) any idea on what would basically happen ?

II don't know that I would delete (C)'s root in (C)... You could certainly delete the whole Workarea and it wouldn't impact anything (because nothing is based on(C), and anything you copied into (A) will still be retained.
