revising content in the LMS

Wanting to test the revision function in the LMS I followed this procedure -

https://help.sap.com/viewer/5fae31b1299d4033b665edabea7b9087/1911/en-US/55caa5e7168b4435b9d650ccae8e...

However, it doesn't actually mention uploading or replacing the content for the item.

When following these instructions in our TEST environment I used two accounts, assigned the original item to one user and commenced the item, but did not complete it.
I then revised the item, and upon returning to the item as the user I was not given the option to do the original version or the revised version, instead the revised version overwrote the original and any process the user had made.

is here an upload part of the revision process that is required in order to function correctly?

Hi anrew_mcelligott ,

While revising the item, did you choose to inactivate the Older revision.
Field "Do you wish to inactivate previous revisions of this item?"

If you want to keep both the revisions active and have a reason for doing this, then you can keep the older revision in the user's learning plan. If you inactivate the older revision, the user's learning plan will get updated with the new revision.

1. User Did not start the course - The learning plan will get updated with the new revision
2. User started the course - The learning plan will get updated with the new revision. The progress made in the previous revision will get lost and user will have to take the course from beginning.
3. User Completed the Course - Since the older revision is already in the learning history, no changes will be done and the learning history will be there with the older revision. However, if the user chooses to review the content, they will not be able to do that (Since the older revision is now inactive).

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thanks

Hi sumit.kumar21,

In the scenario number 3, I have tried this in our test environment. I completed first the current version of an Item which is a SCORM content. Then after I completed it, I inactivate it because I need to revise to the newer version. So I will have now two versions of an Item, one is active and the other one is inactive both Items have been completed and already in the Learning History. However, upon checking the review content from Learning History I can still click and launch the content of the older version of the Item, opposite on what you stated on the bullet number 3.

I've tested this because we have users who encounter the same scenario as what you have mentioned in the number 3 when they review the content of the Item older version they got error message "The Item is no longer active or you no longer have access to this Item". But my testing is giving me different results.

Would you know what went wrong during my testing? Thank you

Regards,

Ash
