hi

I am doing a review of a clients business rules, workflows &  alerts etc. I need to be able to report on the workflow config and trace back to which business rule triggers the workflow. When I look under Configure business rules, there are some rules that are not assigned ( which i would have assumed that it means that they are not in use even though they are not end dated) , however when i look in Business Configuration and look at the HRIS element, I can see that the Business rule is assigned and has a "Yes" under enabled . I understand that some business rules may not be associated with a workflow. But surely if the business rule is associated with an HRIS element or something else, I should be able to see an assignment green tick under the Configure business rules? Is this an incorrect assumption ? How then do i accuratelyy report on the active and in use business rules

I did pull an export from Configure business rules, and a significant number came back with the comment that no assignment details could be found ( maybe because the rules were created under the basic rule sceanario). Not really sure.

Hi @tendisachamis

You can generate the standard report to know what Business rules are Assigned on you system.

Go to "Configure Business Rules" and click on icon that looks like 3 arrows, if you put the cursor on it you you see the "Export rules including assignment information as CSV" description.

Even if you use that export, for the basic rules you would not get the actual assignment, only a comment saying "As this rule is based on the basic rule scenario, no assignment information is available. Move this rule to a specific rule scenario. You can either use the Change Scenario link on the Configure Business Rules page or the Check Tool check on the Migration tab of the Check Tool."

I would like add that under the Business configuuartion the rule is enabled under the HRIS element, but under the Configure business rules, there is a comment that says "No assignment for the rule". So which screen do i trust as being the truth Business Config/ Configure Business rules?

For basic rules, I would trust what you see in Business Configuration UI, as long as the rule is assigned there.
