Purpose of Pay Scale

Hello all, if we already have geozone, location group, pay type, pay group, pay range, pay grade what is the purpose of Pay scale area, Pay Scale group , Pay Scale Level and Pay scale type?

What is the difference between these two groups of pay objects?

The scale ones can be used in many ways, the most common is for CLA / Non CLA clarification + the eventual pay scale level is used to assign a fixed salary to an employee for each pay scale level. This is what we call step progress increase.
