I'm sure it seems like a simple question, but are there specific criteria that must be met in order for a position change to be considered a promotion?

- Is anything (data update/transfer etc.) considered a promotion so long as the reason code selected is Promotion?

- Is a transfer was used instead of a promotion but it was to a new (higher) job level, would it constitute a promotion or ONLY if reason code was promotion?

Hi

Promotion is the appointment of existing members of staff to another post or office at a higher grade than the one previously held, it may include pay change, authority, responsibility, and the ability to influence broader organizational decision making.

Basically in EC terms you will see two types: Promotion sith Salary Change (Chage Position + Change Pay) or Just change Position (Interbally will have a change in Job Classsification -Code that includes an Upper grade according organisational responsabilities.

Transfers may be also with promotion or without promotion, it will depends. That is why you are based by GRADE the impact of specific Job Codes (to determine if really you are beign promoted).

This will be my POV.

Best Regards
