Probation Period - Manage Alerts and Notifications

Hi All,

We've configured saveAlert rules for Probation Period. One sends notification 30 days before Probation Period, while the other sends alerts on the exact day of Probation.

The -30 days is already listed in Manage Alerts and Notifications - Pending Alerts once the Probation Period field has a value. However, the rule that will send alerts on the exact day of Probation date is not included in the list of Pending Alerts.

Could you kindly confirm? Should there not be another alert pending for the user's exact day of Probation? Thank you so much.

Let's do some maths/rule tracing here, because I think your AND clause is (one of) the problem(s). There's like a 99.9% chance that the moment you save a job info record with data that it will NEVER be today on the probation period end-date as when you save a record it's normally ahead of time.

- Let's say today is 11 November 2022 and
- you happen to save a job info record effective on 1 January 2022
- with probation end date on 31 December 2022.

The system will then say 11 November 2022 is not the same as 31 December 2022, so I will do NOTHING. So basically everywhere where you write today, will not help you.

I'd probably make the end clause in such a way (assuming you want it to be sent on the probation end date) that:
IF the probationary end date value is not blank (Null)
THEN
Set the Alert effective date to the probationary end date (the other set clauses seem ok)

This would then cause:
- The system to think on (i.e. 11 November when you save the record) Yes there is an end date for the probation so -->
- Then I need to send a message on the 31st of December (as that's when it ends). You could choose today, but that would be a bit early wouldn't it?

Hint! You may want to add the Delete old pending alert flag and set it to yes (else you may get double, triple or more notifications on the same date if people save it too much which normally gets you a lot of tickets/complaints).
