Position Management for past dated promotion behavior

Hello Team,

I just want to confirm if it's possible that system will have the below behavior during late promotion.

For example, I have 2 records, December 2024 and March 2025.

December 2024 - Position is HR

March 2025 - Position was moved to Jr. IT, there has been some movement on the Dept as well. 

June 2025, I do promotion but effective date is retrodate, it will be January 2025.

With this, is it possible for the system to show in the system the below:

December 2024 - HR

January 2024 - Still HR, but on March 2025, it will override the present position and will change it to the position during promotion? Let's say Sr. IT for example.

Hi,

I guess what you mean is:

two existing records are

1. User is HR as of 2024.12
2. User is Jr. IT as of 2025.3

The modification you want to do is to change the promotion date to 2025.1 on 2025. 6, this is what will show in the records

1. User is HR as of 2024.12
2. User is Jr. IT as of 2025.1(This record will be inserted)
3. Another record of user being Jr. IT with effective date 2025.3

Please correct me if my understanding is incorrect
