Position History Date Differs from Employee History

When a position change is made to a person profile, the position history is correct but the employee history record is showing the today's date. Has anyone experienced this issue and if so, what was the resolution?

Could you please provide some additional information, like how are you changing the position for employee, via take action or via edit history? Are you performing a future dated change, past date change? What do you mean by position data is correct? What is the expectation while doing the change?
