Optimal sizes for book pages - SCORM, Info Center

Hello all,

I would like to create book pages for trainings (SCORM) and for an Info Center.

Which (optimal) book page size should I use in each case?

Does anyone have experience, tips or Best Practices?

Thanks,

Emelie

I agree with robertway1: It largely depends on your users' screen sizes, but 1280x720 is a good starting point (as a 'lowest common denominator' - no-one's running a screen at less than 1280x800, these days - and the diff. in 800 vs. 720 allows space for the Address/Control bar etc.). It also uses the same ratio as (modern) PowerPoint so is a better fit if you need to match existing PowerPoint templates, or import that content.

Regardless of the size used, you can use Zoom to Fit in the playback settings (as annagiorgia says), to minimize 'letterboxing' during playback. However, in my experience that can sometimes have unintended effects due to approximate scaling of fonts etc., and causes problems with animating Groups, so I prefer to leave it set to Zoom to 100% - and then 1024x672 is waaaay too small.

Hello, according to what I've found in the Producer Manual it seems that the default page size for book pages is 1024x672. I would suggest to try this size. Then if you go under Tools > Settings > Playback Settings you can set up the settings (eg. the zoom settings) for playing the content.

Kind regards

Hi,

Finding the optimal size for book pages is an exercise in trial and error. The main factor to consider is the typical (or average) screen size of the devices for your target audience.

Pro-tip: Also keep an eye on the dpi resolution (set to 100%) when recording.

In the past we've found that 1280x720 works well for laptops, but your mileage might vary. This is a good starting point, but again, the best size at your organization will come through trying out different ones.

I hope this is helpful.
