Hi,
Greetings!
I have a few observations while using the "New Course Home Feature" in our development / sandbox environment.
As per my testing and understanding, I saw that –
1.The content regardless of the item type / launch method was always opening in a new TAB.
2.The Surveys were also opening in a new TAB.
3.I did not come across any content which was opening in the same TAB except Quizzes and Exams along with E-Signature Verification. In this case the content opened in the same TAB besides the content list.
I will need help in the below points -
1. Are there any other cases where which launch in the same TAB / WINDOW, which I may have not noticed yet?
2.The behavior of the Quizzes and Exams opening within the same TAB, will it only open in the same tab or is there any setting which will allow to launch them in new TAB / WINDOW instead?
3. With respect to all the contents available in LMS, does the new TAB support better communication and does it make any difference if the content is launched in a WINDOW or a TAB?
Thankyou! ![]()

Dear ashmika,
Here are some information that I want to share from the last release about this topic.
Override Launch in New Window Configuration (added 2H 22)
SAP added a new configuration that provides administrators with the ability to override the content-object level launch method and to launch content inline.
This configuration applies to the new Course Home experience. It doesn't apply to content objects that have a launch method of Browser. By default, overrideContentLaunchInNewWindow is set to false.
SAP added this configuration to provide a global option for customers who want all of their online content to be launched inline.
Configuration Requirements
This feature is universal because the overrideContentLaunchInNewWindow setting is always visible in System Administration → Configuration → System Configuration → LMS_ADMIN. It's early adoption because it only applies if you've enabled the New Course Home experience. You enable the New Course Home experience by setting enableCourseHomeBlended=true in the same location.
If you haven't enabled the new Course Home experience, the content-object level launch method determines how online content is launched, regardless of the value set for overrideContentLaunchInNewWindow.
I hope this helps!
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Karen Perez
