My Team- assign learning- Propose a permission change

the MY TEAM area: Is it possible to change the system so a manager can assign learning to a report, and the search results that come up are based on the direct report's permissions, instead of the manager's? Would a proposed change like this have an all-or-nothing type of permission change? Would we be able to utilize it in certain instances, but not all instances? For example, perhaps a button under assign learning that says "Search based on manager's library: and "Search based on report's library", where it can be selected as needed, but not used in all instances.

To add details to my request, my issue is when a manager several levels above someone (in hierarchy) cannot assign learning to that employee because the person several levels down has a totally different set of courses permissioned to them. What is happening is the manager's search results for an item returns no items associated with said employee because search results are based on the permissions of the manager, not the employee below them. In order to bypass this, we need to give permission to the higher level manager to have same access to the employee level courses, just so it will display in their search efforts.

Employee needs course "A"

Manager searches for course "A" and can't see it in results.

Course A only sits in a library that Employee is permissioned to use.

That is a good question, and I also wonder if SAP SuccessFactors improved this security feature (I do not think so). I had the same issue before when only the managers would have access to the OCN LinkedIn Learning library, but the team members would not, so the manager would assign the LinkedIn Learning course, however, the team member does not have licence to consume LinkedIn Learning content.

Alternatives could be approval process, or remove the ability to assign the course by the manager.

I hope this helps.

Thanks you Jacques- I added some more detail below with an example. In this situation, licensing with an OCN is not the issue, its simply the way the LMS currently points a manager when they use the ASSIGN LEARNING feature in MY TEAM area

Hi Cochetta,

OCN is an example because it provides 8k courses in the library that only managers can access.

Cheers,

Jacques

It is not really clear, Chochetta's question seems to be related to the SuccessFactors Learning, right? So, this SAP KBA does not seem relevant.

this is not exactly the issue I have at hand. We discussed the possibility of how domain may address my issue. Role based permissions will not be a solution at this time.
