The Admin failed to secure the write tokens and delete resources before upgrading.

After Manager was upgraded, the installion of Producer yielded no Migration dialog as expected. How do we correct?

Hi rrvaughan13,

What you wrote sounds really scary.. Hopefully, you've made a backup prior doing that 😉

YOU DON'T NEED TO DELETE RESOURCES. To upgrade SAP Enable Now to a newer version just:

  1. Undeploy existing Manager
  2. Deploy new version of Manager
  3. Install Producer new version
  4. Ensure, that old resources are not edited by someone. (if true, then radical solution is to perform Cancel editing operation in the new version of Manager, but ONLY for Resources folder.)
  5. Connect new Producer version to every Workarea in the new Manager version and enjoy migration script doing its job

Kind Regards, Anton

That is my point, the migration script is not running. In this case no one deleted any resources, but the upgrade guide clearly states to perform that step. Our Admin felt that step was unnecssary. I was merely suggesting that perhaps these skipped steps are the reason why the Migration script is not running.

Are you migrating SQL or HANA version?

Migrate to Cloud or just a version update?

HANA Manager comes with the resources, so Producer won't migrate old resources to new version. Once you update Manager version, it will do the migration by it's own. Producer runs migration script for SQL version only.

I have a feeling, that Update manual is written for SQL version, and the document is also pretty confusing and misleading. Migration simulation in the SEN Infocenter doesn't tell you to delete resources from the Manager trash folder or smth. (this is nonsense). Will ask SAP Enable Now technical writers to review the manual.

KR, Anton

Robert, just check the resources versions in the updated Manager. If you see there a mix of previous versions and new versions, this means migration has been done. Good indicator is a trainer resource, because it is updated with every release.

Its just an upgrade to another to a newer On-Prem (HANA) version. This is the first HANA upgrade I have observed, so I assumed as the manual suggested that a Migration script would run. But what you said about resources aligns with what I was thinking. I will continue testing and let you know if any other issues arise.

Hi Robert,

Were you able to just upgrade HANA DB and the Manager, or did you have to also upgrade the Producer and/or any other components?
