Hello,

we would like to have Merit increase field set as empty.

Currently we use our guideline also in budget calculations.

I know that we could set Defaut value as 0, so manager needs to add input, but then we also have budget set as 0 can we have fileds empty?

Hi paulinaarla

As I read your question and Phil's reply, I'm thinking that if you like the way it is currently set up with merit=0 as guideline default and just the want budget enveloppe to display on top then you would need to change your budget set up from based "On Guideline" to be based on "Custom Fields" where you load what you previously had a guideline default in a lookup table assigning this value to every employee to be multiplied against their annual salary to make up an individual budget enveloppe which then gets sumed up on top based who is pulled on the worksheet.

Please see explanations on budgets here:

All the best

It is not possible to have any money or amount fields be blank. With no other input, they are 0.

I am assuming you want to differentiate between a planner intentionally giving zero increase versus a planner simply not doing anything? The common solution for this is a picklist item with Yes/No (default No) called "Intentional Zero?" and custom validation to ensure that if merit is 0, then Intentional Zero is Yes.
