Mass compensation change without import ?

Can we mass update compensation field

Pay group

by updating a job information field ?

for example, i create a cross-entity business rule if comment field = paygroup_UPDATE

in job info

Then

Set

Compensation payroll-group= XYZ

that is attached to comment field in job info

then i do a mass change to the people i need by updating comment with

paygroup_UPDATE

Is there some chance the update of comp info will happen ?

We didn't do it for paygroup (for salary instead), but the the sample statement and rule properties should give you an idea of how that looks like (onsave rule in jobinfo in manage business configuration):
