LMS: Is it possible to create an item with an Ongoing completion status - not for credit?

We created a people manager toolkit in SCORM 1.2 format and want to set it up in the LMS for people managers to use for reference in their day-to-day. The goal is for it to remain in the learning assignments section over time, and to be able to open and reopen the content without receiving a course complete confirmation.

Item type = Resource.

Completion status created = Ongoing not-for-credit completion status.

However, when configuring the item, the completion status available only displays the for-credit status and does not allow me to select the one created for this. As a result, as soon as users complete the full content, they receive a course complete confirmation, not being able to reopen the content.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks!

Hi @mmarceillac

Just giving you some background:

  • At the item's record > Online Content tab > Settings > Completion tab > the completion statuses available to be chosen at the 'Completion Status' dropdown are only the ones that will grant credit to the users;
  • If your completion status 'Ongoing not-for-credit completion status' hasn't the option 'Credit Given' enabled (https://help.sap.com/docs/successfactors-learning/managing-sap-successfactors-learning-for-administr...), it means this completion status is considered a status to be given when the users fail the content and get an "Incomplete" status for the item.

Now, I think that what your company is trying to achieve can be done with some workarounds:

  • First, enable 'Credit Given' for 'Ongoing not-for-credit completion status';
  • At the item's record, navigate to Online Content tab > Settings > Completion tab and:
    • Select 'Ongoing not-for-credit completion status' as the new Completion Status;
    • Disable any completion settings that might be enabled (such as 'Add to History on Completion of All Content' and 'Add to History on Pass');
    • Click on 'OK' > then on 'Save' > and reassign the item to the users (so they'll be assigned to these updated settings).
  • At the user side, the users should be able to launch the content and take it until the end, and since there are no completion settings configured, LMS will not grant any completion to them and the item will remain in their Learning Assignments.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,
