We recently published a large number of folders in our Library view with links to media content, such as mp4s, pdfs, and ppts, in the description area of each folder. (See below for example)

Users have recently started to report (and we have verified) that a large number of the links to our content are no longer active. When we checked the details in producer, we can verify that the media link is no longer present. (See below for examples of both a good (1st screenshot) and bad (2nd screenshot) link)

We haven't intentionally touched the links on these pages or changed the media files since we went live 3 weeks ago. Any idea on what might have caused these to break? We specifically checked every single link before we went live, and they were all active at that time.

Hi eweaver,
I'm wondering why you are using Free links when pointing to objects located in the same workarea? This is not recommended at all. Please try with selecting Workarea and selecting the media object (or any other object).

Free links are used to get content from 3rd party server and system expects to get correct URL pattern starting from http or https.
Kind Regards, Anton

A few things to check in your Manager check the items and see what the start links are there. You may have a folder in Edit mode causing the link to not be available.
I would also recommend you use the Published Tag from Manager this will allow learners to always see the published content even if a group is in edit mode.
Look at All Tag and change to published

Then check your media object and make sure you click on the down arrow and click on advanced layout and also look at the Start Link. I would use these links.

Hope this helps
Jesse
