Hi Experts,
We are planning to use SITES in LMS for the employees who should not have account in BizX and just have access to LMS to take courses. With user accounts in LMS, there comes a field called "License user Type", which have two values : Active AND Functional.
The KBA(2559814) states that there are no differences between an Active and Functional User in Learning. The classification is for licensing and reporting reasons. Kindly assist:
1. We are not sure what license type should be used with SITE(learning Only) users.
2. What will happen if we keep license type as ACTIVE with SITE (learning only ) users?
3. What will happen if we keep license type as FUNCTIONAL with SITE (learning only ) users?
4. What parameters should be taken care of to be compliant with the license.
Request clarification before answering.

I think you should discuss this configuration option with your sap account representative, but anyway, I'll let you know our understanding in this regard.
1. We are not sure what license type should be used with SITE(learning Only) users.
You should use Functional, as these users must not have a BizX account and only have access to the LMS to take courses.
2. What will happen if we keep license type as ACTIVE with SITE (learning only ) users?
They will count as FULL users who would have to pay the full license price, which is not right as they will only have access to the Learning module.
3. What will happen if we keep license type as FUNCTIONAL with SITE (learning only ) users?
They will count as users you should pay less (licence wise).
4. What parameters should be taken care of to be compliant with the license.
Your extended enterprise users generally do not have access to the full BizX suite, so they must be identified as functional users.

Many thanks for sharing your understanding in this regard and helping me with all my queries. We are in discussion with our SAP CEE on this as you suggested.
Can you please assist me with one more question that arose here (if possible).
> There are some users who are as of now mentioned as ACTIVE users in LMS (as they are coming from BizX to LMS via Employee Export job). Hence, they are using ACTIVE license (by default). However, moving forward we will create these users as SITES users and will mention them as FUNCTIONAL users (so that they use functional license). We will deactivate their ID using ACTIVE license.
So, when I deactivate the users associated with ACTIVE license, this means that they will no more be using LMS with that user ID. So, does the license gets free? Does the number of licenses count in use will be reduced?
> Or what can be done to free a license if it's no more in use by the users in LMS?
