Learning User remains registered to a class even after substitute credit was provided for the class

Hi,

We have a scenario where there are  in-person and virtual classes for the same course. If the user attends the virtual course, substitute credit will be given to the in-person class and vice versa.

However, when the user completes the virtual class and if he/she has already registered for the in person ones, the class registration is not removed after the substitute credit is given.

The class is removed from the users learning plan and is shown as completed in learning history . But when the instructor/admin takes the class roster the user is shown as enrolled in the class. The class also shows in the users registration tab in Learning Admin. There is no option for the user to withdraw the registration as the class is not available in the users my learning and is moved to history. 

Ideally when substitute credit is given for a course, the registration should be removed or the user should have the option to atleast withdraw from the class from learning home.

Has any of you encountered this issue before? Is there an option already available to correct this.?
