With the new search in the new UX, a search for the entire catalogue can only be carried out if an "*" is entered in the search field. This represents a deterioration in user-friendliness.
In the previous search, it was possible to perform an empty search to display the entire catalogue by clicking on the magnifying glass symbol without entering anything.
Will the previous behaviour be made available again and is it planned in the roadmap?
Hello Amelie Fidric,
you assume that every customer has the recommendations in use, which is not the case with us.
Unfortunately, the search function you have targeted is not the solution for us, as our employees do not work in this way and need a view of the entire catalogue. In addition, the filters mentioned only come into play once a search has already been carried out, so unfortunately this experience offers no added value here.
As the universal changeover is coming soon, I would like to ask you to provide a brief description of what is described in the RoadMap under "Ability to browse the catalogue" in "Enhanced search functionality in the integrated learning experience".
Can you please also let me know whether activating the personalised recommendations requires additional licences.
Thank you für your effort.

Hello Amelie Fidric,
thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately, not every customer uses the recommentations function and this does not replace the option of displaying the entire catalogue.
This function is required by us and the recommendations do not replace this function.
Will this function be available again?
Best Regards
Conny

I have created a workaround with some generated direct links because I don't like the functionality of the new search function.
First one is I added a button to the old library in the banner.
I also these two search tools. We are directing our learners to use these instead of the blank search.
@DWurm, this is a great workaround. Can you share the steps to create these? i.e. how did you create the link behind the button/custom card to direct it to the blank search?
Does anyone know if it's possible to Generate a Direct Link in Learning to a specific Source, without having to specify the Learning type first? We want the direct link to be more broad. Thanks.
Hello,
With the new integrated Learning experience, we've expanded what can be searched, provided additional filters to narrow the search results, and improved the overall user experience. You will see keywords highlighted in the description of the search results, the count next to filter options, the ability to filter by attribute, and the bookmark action from the results page.
There is indeed a change in behavior: A keyword is now required to trigger a search, which helps learners find the best results, faster. The "empty search" option had the purpose of helping learners discover new content, but with the new experience, learners will directly receive learning recommendations that are personalized right on the home page. In addition, learning content is even easier to discover now since users see suggested results and search keywords as they start typing into the search bar.

Deep links, custom cards and banners are all great as is the filtering functionality however simple ability for users and espcially Admins to search ALL content should be available. Moving towards recommendations and suggestions driven by AI is great but again the core search should return all results - thats how we work here in my organisation too. It in fact builds more trust in the tool and also helps with testing library content.

Hi there,
The "Browse the catalog" feature allows for users to see a button on the learning homepage where they can browse categories and the category hierarchies and select a category to apply as a filter. This makes it easier for learners to discover content without entering a keyword.
Setting up a banner or custom card with a direct link search is a great way to guide a user to the library without a keyword. You can create a card for upcoming classes, items of a specific learning type, source, etc.
We are looking into supporting blank search but it is not currently part of the roadmap.
Hope this helps!
Gabby
