Latest Goals Management and Employees on LOA

Hi,

I was told today that this is known limitation in functionality compared to the legacy Goals Management. I have not seen this documented anywhere.

When an employee goes out on leave of absence, and is thus temporarily inactive in the system, their goals are no longer able to be modified by the manager (or anyone). We use EC and Time Off as well as PM/GM. This is a huge issue for us as our goal status is directly tied to the individual component of our annual company bonuses. (Note, we do not use the SF Compensation module.) We had to revert to a completely manual process using an email from the manager in order to calculate bonuses accurately for these employees. This was not good timing as we needed to calculate bonuses now at our fiscal year end.

For other customers, please be aware of this limitation.

SAP - Please add this functionality back into Goals Management. Being able to modify the goals and goal status of employees out on a temporary leave of absence is critical.

Thank you,

Julie McSwain

One more question, where would you access this inactive user's goal plan? Through Goals UI (which doesn't support searching inactive users in People Selector yet), or through Import, through Form?

Hi, Through the People Profile (UI not via import - where managers can view inactive employees via RBP) and then select Action > Jump to Objectives Plan. The goals can currently be viewed this way, but they cannot be updated as should be by managers that are allowed to edit goals of their direct reports. This is how it was done in the previous version of GM. We make our goal plans read-only right after the fiscal year is completed so there are no changes to prior year goal plans.

May I confirm the request in simple terms:

To allow the update of a goal even if the user status becomes inactive?

Does this apply to creating a goal for an inactive user too, or only applies to updating a goal.

For my company, we are only interested in the manager being able to update the goal status for employee out on LOA, the same access the manager has when the employees are active.

This conflicts with my traditional understanding that when an employee leaves (becomes inactive), their goals should not allow any changes. This behaviour also aligns with our current technology that we are using, Odata V4 APIs, which checks whether the user is valid and active before allowing upserts. Therefore this now becomes a feature gap between legacy and latest goals and is not a quick change as we would need to enhance all APIs used. Please raise this as an enhancement in Influence.
