Issues with Instant Prodcuer and SAP

ip-drop1.pngip-synch-msg1.pngHi,

I recently was training SMEs how to use Instant Producer to record SAP transactions, and we encountered the following issues:

  1. The SME was not able to use the very top transaction field to enter information. When she did, the recording bar went to busy and EN Synchronization messages kept flashing by. Me and the other trainer thought it had to do with setting the recording size so later we tried to replicate the error, but were not able to no matter which recording areas we selected. BUT we did get the Synchronization messages again, but not every time. (More to come on this, plus a screenshot!)
  2. A random "Drop" interaction appears in the simulation, along with the interaction we originally recorded. We did not do any drag and/or drop movements on the screen. Any idea on how/why this would be added to the sim? See IP Drop image.
  3. On one of our 8 test recordings, we pressed enter after entering information in a text field and briefly got the EN Synch message box flashing on the screen. It was picked up in the simulation screen shot. We used enter many times before but never got the flashing message. See IP Synch image.

We did change some settings in SAP before we started recording:

1. Checked Enable Scripting, but unchecked the three notification boxes under that setting.

2. Unchecked History Status.

3. Selected No Tooltip under Tooltip Delay.

Does anyone have any idea what causes the Synch windows to run? Or why Instant Producer added "Drop" interactions when we didn't record any?

Thank you!

Hi Peter,

in addition to the answers already provided, I'd like to note this:

1. This is a bug and will be fixed with the next release (2111). dirkmanuel2, the fix should take care of the issues you described. In case you need an urgent fix please contact me directly via email.

2. Probably cause by a click that was too fast and not recorded correctly - like the "sliding" described by Dirk.

3. Same as #1, this is a result of the erroneous synch.

If your question is answered, please mark it as answered.

Take care,

Kristina

Hi, thank you for the reply! I have a clarification question on the bug/fix. Is not being able to use the very top transaction field in SAP part of the bug/fix? When we were first recording, it seemed to go hand in hand with the Synchronization windows running. But then we were not able to "recreate" the event on later testing.

Hi Peter,

I think these are two separate issues. The synchronization issue should not be affecting the ability to discover the transactional field and record it properly.

Take care,

Kristina

Hi Peter,

Have you taken a look at the requirements for recording SAP GUI, listed in the Producer Manual at Producer Manual on https://help.sap.com/. I would definitely start with those requirements because you will encounter significant issues recording SAP GUI if these requirements have not been considered.

Regards
Shan

Hi, thank you for the link. As I indicated, we made changes to 3 of the SAP settings. We'll look at the Producer manual to see if we missed anything else. Thanks!

I've seen those 'synchronization' messages showing up a few times, recently. Sometimes it is VERY intrusive, and seems to be happening with every keystroke when I'm entering a text string. If it will let me I am going to attach a video of this happening - twice within 30 seconds, so it is not an 'autosave' thing (which is set to 5 minutes). [It wouldn't let me upload a video, so here's a still.] It appears to be saving playback profiles. Either way, I don't think it should be happening, and certainly not this frequently - SAP, any ideas?

For your 'drop' issue, I sometimes see that if I manage to 'slide' my mouseclick - it thinks I did a drag/drop instead of just a mouseclick. I just delete the extraneous step.

Thanks Dirk! We tried 8 test recording to try to replicate the Drop transaction (and the synch window issue) and I was clicking and dragging all over the place and it only got recorded once when we typed in a field. I was just relating it to the synch window issue since it all seemed to happen at once for the person who was recording. I agree, just deleing it is easy... I was just trying to figure out the why. Thanks again!
