Instructor Spot Class (ad hoc classes, impromptu training)

973

Hi Community,

I set up two instructor both are authorized to teach about 27 items.

BUT how do I configure the so called "spot classes" or impromptu training in the instructor view?

And how do I record them as an instructor?

Normaly under "My Classes" I can see a tab "authorized items" where I could post-register users and record learnings. But now under "Actions" this function is not available.

The items are brand new. Configured with segments but yet there where no classes scheduled.

Thanks for your answers

Best regards

Jens

Solved my issue with some research

Situation: Inhouse Instructer should be able to record "spot on classes" (ad hoc classes)

Complication: The action buttons "Record completions" were not available in the "My classes - authorized to teach" tab.

Solution: The "Purchasing" option has to be set to "No Charge" on the item level. Then the "Record Completion" button appears.

Makes sense as courses with costs should be managed by a central administration.

Problem solved.

Hi Jorge,

yes. Once I could saw this there and the permissions are set. But the action to record ad hoc classes are not available for the new items.

I don't get it what I am doing wrong here?

My understanding is that for impromptu classes instructors can go to the Authorized to Teach tab on their My Classes tab then click the Record Completions button to record completions of training this is not associated with classes defined in the system.

The instructors need a role with the Add to History for ad hoc Classes permission to be able to do with I described above.
