How to improve People Profile in Sap SF?

Hi Everyone,

We are tackling a project whose one of the goals is for employees to reach people dealing with specific areas, such as benefits, leaves, etc., or with specific tools such as Jira, Outlook, etc. We would like each employee to be able to search for such people without knowing their name, e.g. search engine in SAP SF. We thought that we could supplement the Employee Profile with additional information. Have you encountered this type of solutions in SAP SF or are you able to provide me with examples? Maybe you approached this topic completely differently?

Please let me know, any information will be helpful.

Kind regards,

Paulina

The ask doesn't get fully clear to me. Are you trying to enrich the people search in SF (as in that people can search for title and stuff, as there are options for that), are you trying to get direct links to specific portlets / sections of specific employees (as that can also be done, but requires different actions) or are you trying to rebuild the people search in another tool (as that really depends on the capabilities of that specific tool, hence we cannot really comment on that)?

Hi Jasper,

Thank you for your comment. We don't need to improve the search engine. We want to collect additional information about Employees on their Employee Profiles, such as "on a daily basis I deal with...", "I can support you in...", "I use tools such as...", "I participate in projects. ...". We want to automate this as much as possible. Later, this will make it easier for other employees to find it. We often struggle with the fact that we do not know who to contact about a given topic and we call or write to several people, wasting a lot of time. This solution is intended to help us shorten the time to reach the right person.

We are wondering whether SAP will be a good tool that will enable us to do this.

So it's just a couple of extra fields you want to feed the other tools then?
I mean you can add those in pretty much any portlet (i.e. personal information, a standard or custom background portlet, a custom MDF portlet). The easiest would just be creating a custom mdf portlet in which you add that then for respective employees (can be done via import if you have such info). That way all that info is on one area on their profile
