How to export SAP Glossary for use with Productivity Pak

I want to import the SAP Glossary to uPerform 4.40 (as advised by Ancile), but none of our in-house SAP people know how to export the glossary from SAP.  I myself have zero knowledge of SAP beyond a few end-user workflows.

Could anyone point me to a discussion or documentation on this, please?

Hi Allen,

The full steps for exporting and importing the glossary are listed in the manual

"Managing Content, manual version, Chapter 9, Working with Glossary " - section, Importing and Exporting a Glossary and Translations". I beleive this manaual may have been part of your CD download.

Thanks, Adrienne.

I'll rope one of our SAP admins into this, now that ignorance will no longer be an excuse!

Hi Adrienne,

I'm afraid I was too hasty in marking the answer. I wasn't asking about exporting from ProdPak.

I need to know how to export the SAP Glossary -- so this is an SAP question, not a ProdPak question.

(Once I've got the exported file, I will follow the ProdPak instructions which you identified to import it to uPerform).

Cheers!

Hi Allen,

Are you looking to export application specific glossary terms and definitions ? What is the applications/system youa re using ? Maybe I can get the steps for you.

I know sap can provide a 'standard sap glossary' excel that can be imported to prodPak, you can get this on request in OSS message. You can use the steps in the doc then for import.

Hi Adrienne,

My main problem is that I don't know what I'm trying to do. I am not SAP literate, and I'm not sure what SAP systems we are using (although I do know we use 'ECC', 'CRM', and 'BW/BO').  None of our people seem to know what the 'glossary' is -- or else I get conflicting advice. All I know is that our Ancile consultant strongly recommended that we import the SAP Glossary into ProdPak as early as possible, then ran out of time to show us how to get it out of SAP.

Thanks again,

  Allen

Hi Allen,

The sap glossary, is a list of sap term and definitions, I beleive this acn be exported via transaction STERM, but I am not sure on exact steps to export the glossary with this transaction. I will try to get exact steps for you.

Dear Allen,

Yes you can use tcode STERM,

Utilities -> download -> glossary

this should download as txt/html file, in order to upload into uPerform, it needs to be in tab-delimited txt, so you will need to follow the attached steps to convert the SAP Glossary file into tab delimited file, then you can import into uPerfrom.

Hi Adrienne,

We used STERM > utilities > download > glossary.

I followed your recipe to process the file with Excel, but I had to add another two steps to clean up remaining html fragments (e.g. '</LI' and ' ').

Thanks for all your help !
