How to Create a Date Type Field in LMS

We are trying to configure and map position entry date field from EC to LMS. For that we can create a custom field for Users in LMS. But this either will as string or as referenced. But we want to capture it as a date format so that we can use it is assignment profile. Please let me know if I am missing any option available to configure this.

Unfortunately, all custom fields come across as string data. There is no configuration available to change this. Currently, Hire Date is the only field that actually comes across as a date, and stored as such.

This seems like a big miss on something that feels basic. We are in the same boat as the OP. You get promoted, your job entry date changes, and we can't use date operators to make a basic AP comparison because the field is a string..
