How should the cost center key be defined in Employee Central?

According to the following SAP Help documentation, the SAP recommendation is to create the cost center with Controlling Area Key and Cost Center Key in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central:

What are the reasons against the SAP recommendation?

The reason why the Cost Center ID has the Controlling area would be handle the scenarios when you have Core Hybrid Architecture. It's where you have EC and ECC system integrated.

So I also understand that I should do it this way when I have Employee Central Payroll in use?
Are there good reasons not to do so, because there are problems or limitations in the EC?

Because this is also an SAP ECC system simply with the module Payroll.
