How do you deal with User Custom Fields in Story Reports?

Dear All,

we are intensively working on story reports to replace the old canvas reports in the report center.

To our great disappointment we realized that user custom fields of SF LRN  can only be used in story reports, if for each value in the custom field all available locales are filled. 

We have the users' cost centers as well as the department information as custom fields. And we see no way in filling the value locales automatically, neither via sf user connector, nor via data import or any other connector file. SAP recommends to add the locales manually - a great suggestion looking at thousands of cost centers and thousands of departments with a continuous change.

Do you experience the same challenge? How are you dealing with this?

We are also facing the same issue when running a Story report.

It seems that the Story report / People Analytics reports on the Description of Learning Custom Fields, but when UDF runs, this field is not populated. We are left with options to manually maintain each description within the custom field. And some of our customers have hundreds of lines in each custom field and that list is updated on a regular basis.

This could be one of the biggest show stoppers for our customers, not to mention the Story report may also require more than one locale maintained in LMS.

Hopefully SAP can look into this ASAP and provide some easier solution.

I completely agree, as Sunny says this is a showstopper for our company too in terms of moving to Story Reports for Learning (well, one of several showstoppers!).

I've just seen that another customer has submitted an influence request for this today:

Hopefully if this gets some traction then SAP will realise that the current solution isn't practical, and surely it would be easy enough to implement this change.
