How can I convert the person-id-external (Person ID) of existing employees?

Hello everyone,

According to the SAP Help documentation here, changing the person-id-external is allowed for existing employee data.

I have two questions about this:

  • How and where can I change this person-id-external for existing employees?
  • What are the restrictions?

I have searched SAP Help and SAP Notes on this topic and found nothing.

I have now found out how to change the person-id-external for a person.

  1. So first export the existing employees using Employee Export.
  2. Then adjust the person-id-external in the export file.
  3. Upload back to SF using Import Employee data and the person-id-external has been changed.

However, if you are already using SF productively, you should do this with care.
Since I'm not quite sure what impact it has besides Integration issues, etc...

Hi,

Never needed to update the person ID external but the note referred to below by pboulicaut mentions API ConvertAssignmentIdExternal.

We have used this api to update our external assignment Ids via an integration in CPI which takes a file of old/new numbers and does the update

I would like to convert the person-id-external.
I know the conversion with the assignment ID in self-service.

Sap used to support userid conversion in Successfactors thru sap support ticket. But they are moving away from it. 

Now the only trace of it is assignment id conversion, which is a self service features .

As already formulated in my question, I am interested in the person-id-external and not the UserID or Assignment ID. According to the documentation, I should also be able to convert the person-id-external.
