guidance on publishing courses, now that exe files are no longer supported on our browser

Our LMS is SuccessFactors and SAP users take their mandatory training there.

However for ease of refresher access to courses I publish all SAP courses on Sharepoint using exe files. These file types are no longer supported with the EDGE Chromium browser, company standard, and I would value some thoughts on how to replace my exes with another publish option that is easy to publish to and access from Sharepoint please.

Hi Julie,

I have not tried this with sharepoint, but you could publish in the "standard" format to a sharepoint folder and then place a link to the index.html on a sharepoint page.

This is the "old" way of publishing, used before there was a manager available. You will have to re-publish the content if there are any changes.

But it might be an option for you, because it's only html and no .exe or signature is required.

Maybe this helps, if so, please mark the question as answered.

Take care,

Kristina

We've used standard from time to time to meet some demands. One comment, perhaps to set expectations.

For us, standard created a lot of small files - be prepared for this if you see something similar. Virus scans or other items could bring this slower than desired when working with the large volume of files. No so large in terms of storage, just a lot of files.

Hi Wallace,

yes, absolutely. It's no use to put whole workareas on a sharepoint or onedrive. But maybe for single eLearnings the number of files will be manageable. But good point!

Take care, Kristina

Thank you for this suggestion. I shall try that and see if that works.

I will update this accordingly once tested.

Thank you 🙂

Why would you publish them to SharePoint when you can just point your users to SAP Enable Now and have them consume the content directly from there? You have tracking and a 'single point of (the latest) truth'. If you absolutely need something in SharePoint, just load the Start Link for each course into SharePoint (assuming they have enabled the ability to load a link).

Failing that you could look into SLCs, but you'd need to make sure everyone has the SLC Player.

Thank you Dirk, and valid points about manager.

However predating me, the decision was taken not to use Manager for general access and SSO or individual accounts have not been set up. Tracking is in SuccessFactors and not required or needed elsewhere. With other changes ongoing in the business SSO or setting up all users is not an option.

I did think about SLC player but this as you say requires this to be installed on all the consumers machines as part of our standard build. This may or not be possible because of changes in the business. I will ask about it with IT.

Is there any other option that you know of, or is there is a way to get a digital signature when creating an exe. that could be permitted?
