Hi,

I am new in setting folder structure in SAC for business users and have some queries-

  1. Do we give edit rights for users to create their own versions in Public folder.
  2. Where models should be kept?
  3. Should models be visible to users or it should be hidden?

Thanks,

Hi @jain06,

it really depends on how you use the SAC.

Here are some best practices from a lot of projects:

  • One folder with read access for everyone. Within this folders there are subfolders for
    • Re-Usable objects (Themes, Composites, Templates)
    • Most of the live models (Since the data authorization for live models is done by the source system, you can put all live models in here. But there may be models like HR models you even don´t want to be visible for non-authorized users)
  • One folder per topic (e.g. Finance) with read access for the topic users and key users teams. This folder inculdes the following subfolders
    • Required Objects (like import models, but also composites etc. that should only be available for e.g. the finance team) - read only access for finance users & key users
    • Key User Reporting (here key users can save reports, that should be available for the whole finance team) - read only access for users, read & write for key users

Based on your it process you may have a team IT-Admins, which has full access to everything.

You´ll still run into authorization topics - like reporting that is across topics.

And the users need to be able to "read" the models, otherwise they won´t see any data.

Best regards,
Denis
