Finish editing error in Producer (WebVersion)

I am looking for anyone that might have some experience in Producer. A currently published simulation was being edited. During the edit process the External Editor feature was being used to update slide detail. During this process a slide disappeared and an error was produced that it no longer existed.

Attempted to back up the process to get the slide back but all that was left were the action items. To get past this a previous slide that was close to the one that disappeared was copied and used.

When attempting to Finish Editing an error is received. "Cannot access the file macro\…"

Does anyone have experience with this error and/or guidance on how to fix? Would like to resolve the error versus having to re-record.

Hi Heather,

The dump_page folders associated with a Simulation contain the screenshot images captured during recording of the Simulation. It appears that there is an issue with one of these images.

I would:

1. Open Producer
2. Right click the Simulation in the Explorer view and select Open Folder
3. Double click on the macro folder to open it
4. Double click the folder that ends in CE9F, the one included in the error message above
5. Double click the dump_page folder

You should now be able to see the image or at least the original image that was captured during the recording. If you see the image:

1. In Windows File Manager, right click the image and select Copy
2. Open the Simulation in Producer so that you can see the Steps
3. Scroll down to the Step containing the image that has an issue and click on the image so that the image properties are displayed
4. Click the Replace Image icon beside the Page property and select Replace with Image from Clipboard.

Hopefully that will at least get you back to the point where you have the recorded image that can be updated using the External Editor again.

Regards
Shane

Thank you for those detailed steps! Very helpful. For step 4, there isn't a folder that ends with CE9F.

Is there a way to revert the recording the previous version so I could start my edits over?

Thank you,

Heather

We were able revert the object which allowed someone else with access to be able to create a duplicate of the recording.

This allowed me to be able to sync my workarea without error and I have access to the duplicate.

It looks like that particular folder is available in the duplicate. I will see if I can copy it to the current one. If that doesn't work I will edit the duplicate and have that item published.

Thank you for the help!

Heather
